Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image)

Google released Nano Banana 2 on February 26, 2026, describing it as the world knowledge, quality and reasoning of Nano Banana Pro "at lightning-fast speed". What Google lists:

  • Character resemblance for up to five characters and fidelity for up to 14 objects in one workflow.
  • Accurate, legible text, and translating text inside an image.
  • Resolutions from 512 px to 4K.

The Gemini API docs split its 14 reference images into up to 10 object images and up to 4 character images.

On this site: 1K, 2K and 4K at 2, 3 and 4 credits, up to 14 reference images. It is the default model and the one we suggest trying first. Try Nano Banana 2.

Nano Banana Pro (Gemini 3 Pro Image)

Nano Banana Pro came out on November 20, 2025, built on Gemini 3 Pro. Google calls it "the best model for creating images with correctly rendered and legible text directly in the image", from a short tagline to a long paragraph, in several languages. Also from Google:

  • Blends up to 14 images and keeps the consistency and resemblance of up to 5 people.
  • Localized edits, camera angle and focus changes, colour grading, and relighting (for example day to night).
  • 2K and 4K output.

The Gemini API docs describe it as "optimized for professional asset production" and list up to 6 object images, up to 5 character images and up to 3 style references. When Google launched Nano Banana 2, it recommended Nano Banana Pro "for high-fidelity tasks requiring maximum factual accuracy" and Nano Banana 2 "for rapid generation".

On this site: 4, 4 and 6 credits at 1K, 2K and 4K; up to 14 reference images. Expect it to take longer than Nano Banana 2. Try Nano Banana Pro.

GPT Image 2 (OpenAI)

OpenAI released GPT Image 2 on April 21, 2026, alongside ChatGPT Images 2.0, with improved text rendering, multilingual support and visual reasoning. The model page calls it a model "for fast, high-quality image generation and editing" with "flexible image sizes and high-fidelity image inputs", and rates its speed as "Medium".

From OpenAI's image generation guide:

  • Every input image is processed at high fidelity automatically, so details from your uploads carry into the edit.
  • Sizes up to 3840 px on the long edge, with a long-to-short ratio of at most 3:1.

On this site: 1K, 2K and 4K at 2, 3 and 4 credits, the same price as Nano Banana 2; up to 14 reference images. Try GPT Image 2.

Seedream 5.0 Flash (ByteDance)

Seedream 5.0 Flash is the fast tier of ByteDance Seed's Seedream 5.0 family; Seedream 5.0 Pro is the higher-quality tier. ByteDance's ModelArk docs say Flash "generates images faster and costs less", for "latency- and cost-sensitive scenarios", while Pro "provides higher image quality". From the same page:

  • Up to 10 reference images.
  • Resolutions 1K, 1.5K and 2K, so no 4K.
  • Text rendered natively in 14 more languages, including Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French and German.

On this site: 2 credits at 1K or 2K, up to 10 reference images. It doesn't offer the 4:5 and 5:4 ratios. Try Seedream.

Which one to pick

These are our recommendations, based on the makers' descriptions above.

  • Faces and portraits: Nano Banana 2. For three or more people in one image, Nano Banana Pro, which Google says keeps up to 5 people consistent.
  • Product photos: Nano Banana 2 or GPT Image 2. If the packaging has small text that must stay readable, Nano Banana Pro.
  • Text, posters, menus, infographics: Nano Banana Pro first, GPT Image 2 second. Put the exact words in quotes.
  • Many references (a character, an outfit, a product, a backdrop): Nano Banana 2 or Nano Banana Pro, up to 14 images.
  • Quick drafts and A/B ideas: Seedream 5.0 Flash at 2K for 2 credits, or Nano Banana 2 at 1K.
  • Large prints and 4K banners: Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro or GPT Image 2 at 4K.

You don't have to commit to one. The model is a dropdown in the editor, and you can run the same prompt on two models and keep the better result. Our prompt guide works for all four.

What a typical session costs
